About Us -  Since 1954, amateur and professional archaeologists have   explored the Indiana County region. From evidence of the first Pennsylvanians over 12,000 years ago to the history of the rural farmsteads, Colonial settlements, or the beginnings of the Industrial Revolution, archaeologists ask a wide range of questions in an attempt to understand day to day life in the past, and reconstruct some of the history and evolution of our own, modern societies.

The Indiana County Archeology Society ( I.C.A.S.) formed through the efforts of individuals who also recognized the importance of understanding and reconstructing the past. Our group members are individuals from all walks of life united in the common goal of promotion of the scientific study of archaeological resources in Pennsylvania;the conservation of archaeological sites, artifacts, and information; the dissemination of archaeological knowledge;and the exchange of information between amateur and professional archaeologists.
