Oct 28th 2009 marked the season closing for the Indiana County Archaeology Society’s (aka I.C.A.S) meetings, and opened the door to numerous changes and events that will take place for 2010.

We’ll start with our re-opening celebration marking our 4th year in operation, at Fire Mountain, Tues, Feb 23rd at 6:00 p.m. It's time to brain storm for ideas and catch up on current news.

Mark your calendars for the new day and time for future meetings. Due to a conflict of time it was decided to have our meetings take place on the LAST Tues of the month, starting March 30th, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. Reminder courtesy calls will be made to members if requested.

So far, here’s our tentative 2010 calendar:

In the spring we will return to our new historical learning site in Armagh, Pennsylvania. This wonderful stone structure includes the remains of a spring house which, according to the neighbors, was once a two story log home. We hope to learn more about its former occupants, and its purpose during the early beginnings of the Armagh community.

In May, Butch Laney will be conducting his own field trip on a private farm for any interested parties to attend. This would be a great opportunity for the novice to learn how to recognize flakes or possible projectile points without disturbing the ground.

July 9 - 10 Community Days in Penn Run. Fri will be a "recap" of our findings from the ranch and determine if we need/ or can gather other information about the area. Sat will be our first fund raising sale so we're currently looking for donated items to sell at our "1.00 table". All proceeds will go to I.C.A.S. events and operations. No need to go straight home because about 350 yrds away there will be a carnival, held by the Cherry Hill Volunteer Fire Dept, located in the back of their parking lot. A full notice of the C.H.V.F.D. events will be posted in the local newspapers.

Labor Day week will be our 4th year at the Indiana Fair Grounds. Last year we were able to have three baskets donated with goodies from surrounding area organizations to raffle off with 1.00 chance tickets. Ideas are being collected now to see what possible baskets we can gather for the event.

Our name is spreading and request for starting investigating sites are pending due to time factors that we all must work with. If you can do research for background information on a location in your spare time it would help move projects along. Contact Susanne for a rough draft of what is needed!
